Counselling for Self-Esteem and Confidence

London-based services for self-esteem and confidence-related issues

The harsh inner voice that doesn't go away

Negative beliefs, ruthless perfectionism, oversensitivity, and expectations that could never be met. These are some of the things that fuel feelings of low self-worth. Do you find yourself struggling to see strengths and skills that seem so present in others?? You are not alone. I meet people in my practice who are going through similar challenges.

Some insights about self-esteem and confidence

The way you see yourself permeates every other aspect of your life – the choices you make, the way you interact with others, the objectives you set for yourself, etc. It is one of the main pillars of your identity.

Self-esteem is the assessment of “the internal judge”, and not necessarily an objective evaluation. Make sure the “judge” is aligned with reality and takes into account all the aspects of the “trial”.

Self-esteem is strongly related to feeling worthy, feeling good enough. On the long-term feeling worthy or good enough has little to do with external achievements, titles or social status.

A healthy level of self-esteem is not the same as being proud, it is rather not feeling inferior.  A healthy level of confidence does not mean you are always going to win or “make it”. It is rather connected to having the courage to explore.

About Me

I am a qualified London-based counsellor with an extensive background in Psychology. One of the areas that I specialize in is low self-esteem and confidence-related issues. Low self-esteem is an aspect that is manifested in two ways:  in clients who come to counselling because of feelings of inferiority, lack of self-worthiness and never being good enough. And then some who have an unconscious low level of self-esteem that they overcompensate for with a lot of achievements. Underneath we find the same issue, it is the external outlook that differs.

In working with low self-esteem issues, the focus is on:

  • the internal assessment of the self.
  • how did that harsh “judge” come to be?
  • the impact of a low level of self-esteem in the client’s life.
  • We don’t want to get rid of “the judge”. We want him aligned with reality.

Psycho-education plays an important part in my counselling work – I do my best to help the clients get acquainted with psychological concepts and frameworks. This will enable them to continuously expand their self-understanding long after we have finished working together.

I’m a member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society, the British Psychological Society and the Association of Christian Counsellors. Counseling can help people live better lives.

It's time to bid that savage voice farewell

I help people like you build a realistic image of themselves. You have weaknesses – counselling can help you improve rather than putting yourself down. You have strengths – counselling will enable you to see them and you might start liking what you see when looking in the mirror.

Our work together will address the sources of your negative self-assessment, infuse some much-needed compassion into your life, and improve your current relationship dynamics. Counselling with me can get you from self-doubt to the courage needed to face life’s challenges with grace.

It is a difficult journey, but you don’t have to do it alone. I can help.
